The Barranquilla Marriott Hotel sits at Calle 98 #52B-10 in the Buenavista financial corridor in the north of the city, a block from Buenavista mall and a short ride from Ernesto Cortissoz airport. It is one of the standard business-hotel options in town. This review covers what it is actually like as a place to stay, who it suits, and roughly what you pay (verify current rates before booking).

Location and who it suits

The hotel sits inside the Buenavista business cluster, surrounded by office towers, banks, and shopping. If your reason for being in Barranquilla is meetings in the north of the city, this location works well. If you want to be walking distance to El Prado architecture, Carnaval parade routes, or downtown, you will be using Uber or InDriver from here.

Who it suits: business travelers, Marriott Bonvoy members earning or burning points, and anyone who wants a predictable international-brand stay over local character. Families and Carnaval visitors who want to walk to the action are usually better off in El Prado or near the Gran Malecón.

Rooms and rates

Rooms are standard upper-tier Marriott: king or twin queen, blackout curtains, decent AC (you will need it, Barranquilla runs hot and humid most of the year), in-room safe, and reliable Wi-Fi. Upper-floor rooms get a partial view across the Buenavista skyline.

As of writing, walk-in rates for a standard king typically run around COP 600.000 to 900.000 per night depending on season and demand, with suites higher. Bonvoy members usually see better direct rates than third-party sites. Carnaval week (late February through early March in 2026) is the one period when rates jump significantly and rooms book out months ahead, check the dates before assuming availability.

Food on site

The main restaurant is Amira, the hotel's signature dining room, with a Caribbean-leaning menu and a Sunday brunch that draws locals as well as guests. Brunch is usually the best value for non-guests who want to try the kitchen without committing to a full dinner tab.

For a lighter option there is Meira Café, an in-lobby spot for coffee, pastries, sandwiches, and a quick remote-work session. Both are open to non-guests, which is useful if you want to scout the place before booking.

Gym and pool

The fitness center is small but adequate for a hotel: a few treadmills, ellipticals, a free-weight rack, and a cable machine. It is open 24 hours for guests. If you train seriously you will outgrow it in a couple of sessions, plan a guest pass at Bodytech or Smart Fit nearby.

The rooftop pool is the better amenity. It is a lap-style pool with sun loungers and a bar, and Barranquilla weather means you can use it almost any day of the year. Towels are stocked at the pool deck.

Meetings and events

The hotel has a ballroom and several breakout rooms used for corporate offsites, weddings, and conferences. If you are running an event in the north of the city the Marriott is one of the default choices, alongside the Hilton Garden Inn and the Sonesta. The events team handles AV, catering, and room blocks, request a site visit before committing.

Bottom line

The Marriott Barranquilla is a competent international-brand business hotel in a convenient location for the Buenavista corridor. It is not a destination in itself, but it does what it sets out to do: clean rooms, working AC, a usable gym, a good pool, predictable food, and Bonvoy points. If you need that bundle in north Barranquilla, it is a fair choice. If you want character or walkability, look at El Prado options instead.
